Wondering what you need to decode ionCube files? The short answer: just a web browser and an account. This guide covers all requirements.

Minimum Requirements

To DECODE ionCube files (our service):

  • A device with a web browser (computer, tablet, phone)
  • An internet connection
  • A free account
  • Your ionCube-encoded .php files or .zip archive

That's it. No special software, no PHP installation, no command-line tools.

To RUN decoded files (after decoding):

  • PHP installed on your server (7.4 or higher)
  • No ionCube Loader needed (that's the whole point of decoding)

What You Do NOT Need

  • ionCube Loader — not needed for decoding, and not needed after decoding
  • Command-line access — everything works through the browser
  • Special software — no Python, no PHP extensions, no decoder tools
  • Technical knowledge — if you can use a web browser, you can decode
  • Linux server — works on Mac, Windows, Linux, ChromeOS, mobile

File Requirements

Accepted Formats

  • .php files encoded with ionCube
  • .zip archives containing .php files

File Size Limits

  • Individual files: up to 100MB
  • ZIP archives: up to 100MB

Supported ionCube Versions

  • All encoder versions (v10 through v15)
  • All PHP versions (7.4 through 8.4)

Account Requirements

Free Trial

  • Email address only
  • No credit card
  • 3 free decode attempts

Paid Decoding

  • Email address
  • Payment method (card, PayPal, or crypto)
  • Credits purchased in advance

What Happens After Decoding

After decoding, you receive clean PHP source code files. To use them:

  1. Download the decoded .php files (or ZIP archive)
  2. Deploy to your PHP server (just copy the files)
  3. Test the application to verify functionality
  4. Remove the ionCube Loader if desired

No additional software or extensions are needed to run decoded PHP files.

System Requirements for Running Decoded Files

PHP Version

Match the PHP version the files were originally encoded for:

  • PHP 7.4 files → run on PHP 7.4+
  • PHP 8.1 files → run on PHP 8.1+
  • PHP 8.4 files → run on PHP 8.4

PHP Extensions

Your application may require standard PHP extensions (mysqli, pdo, curl, gd, etc.) — these are unrelated to ionCube.

Web Server

Any web server that supports PHP:

  • Apache with mod_php or PHP-FPM
  • Nginx with PHP-FPM
  • LiteSpeed
  • PHP's built-in server for development

Getting Started Checklist

  • Create a free account
  • Locate your ionCube-encrypted .php files
  • (Optional) Package files into a ZIP
  • Upload via drag & drop
  • Preview decoded output
  • Purchase credits for full download
  • Download and deploy

Conclusion

Decoding ionCube files requires almost nothing — just a browser and an account. The simplicity is by design: we handle all the complexity so you don't have to.
